Cardano Uses Timeline
This article will basically have a timeline of Cardano, a particular blockchain project that backs up the cryptocurrency ADA, showing how the blockchain has been useful for utilities other than crypto. That is one of the cool things about Cardano - it is a cryptocurrency used by a blockchain technology which displays the real-world uses of distributed ledger technology:
- 2019: Ministry of Education in Georgia worked with Free University of Tbilisi and Cardano to create a blockchain-based system to build a credential verification system for Georgia
- 2019: New Balance started pilot program on the Cardano blockchain to track authenticity of shoes
- April 2021: Ethopia government announced plans to work with IOHK to create recording-system on Cardano for students of Ethopian educational system
- September 2021: Cardano successful added smart contract functionality to their blockchain. A smart contract is "A smart contract is a self-executing contract with the terms of the agreement between buyer and seller being directly written into lines of code" that allows you to run contracts without a third-party and have said contract permanently saved to an immutable blockchain, creating an unchangeable digital copy of the transaction. Many places, such as the US states of Nevada, Tennessee, Arizona, Iowa, and Wyoming have passed legislation which makes smart contracts as legally binding as regular contracts.
